Greece is a really interesting place when you talk about history and archaeology! The first people moved there around 250,000 years ago, living in a lot of caves mainly. Then, the populations started to grow around 10,000 years ago and the first Greek cities were formed.

The ‘Greek Empire’ or Ancient Greece began around 10,000 years ago. A lot of the buildings that are most famous (like the Parthenon which is a temple to the goddess Athena) were built during these few millennia. Greece at the time also had some of the biggest and earliest scientists and philosophers working at the time – bringing plenty of money into the cities with their new inventions and ideas. The Greeks were also very good in battle, which won them more power over the surrounding regions, and the money and resources that came with. Their skeletons reveal a lot of battle injuries!

Ancient Greece is definitely one of my favourite time periods because of all of these fascinating facts!

      Michael 🙂
