About the Investigation Zone

The Investigation Zone is all about how scientists work.  People doing scientific research need to use a range of investigative skills. Many of these skills you also use in your science lessons at school.

The five scientists in this zone use observation, pattern spotting, testing, identifying or classifying skills in their research. By talking to them, can you find out the things they do that you also do in your class?

In this zone, you will meet one scientist who is identifying how many animals in Britain are nocturnal, one who uses observation to help save the world from radiation and one who tests nasty parasites that get passed to us from our pets. There will also be an archaeologist who uses classification to find out about people from thousands of years ago, and a scientist who is trying to understand how storms change our coastline by pattern spotting.
