Electricity exists in nature so it wasn’t invented but discovered. There are fascinating reports that the ancient Romans and Persians figured out how to make really simple batteries to produce light.
One of the most famous experiments using electricity was when Ben Franklin in 1752 used a kite with a key attached and flew it in a storm to prove that lightening and electric sparks were the same thing!!
