      Hi there,

I did some work in Scotland at a fish farm in the highlands (ever heard of Ardtoe? Its on the Acharacle penninsula). We looked at how ship noise (recorded in a dock in Peterhead in East Scotland) affected cod development. As you probably know, cod is an important species for the economy in the UK. We called our study ‘fish and ships’ and we found out that cod that listened to ships were skinnier which could mean they are less likely to survive in the wild. So if we move shipping lanes away from important cod nursery habitat we could protect this important species.

      Sophie 🙂
