You just need to add something which is alkaline! I remember doing experiments at school to find out which things are acids, alkalines and neutral!

That’s okay!
If you know what an acid is or if something is acidic, alkaline is totally the opposite.
If you add something acidic to something alkaline that is called being neutralised.
