      Hi!

Sometimes a flood can happen quite quickly, over a few hours or minutes. It depends on how big the storm is or how low down the land is below sea level.

People often make walls or barriers to stop flooding from happening. If one of these gets broken by a storm, the water can flow and flood much quicker!

If the tide or sea comes up really high, a flood might happen, but luckily when the storm stops, or the tide or sea goes out, then the water can flow back to sea. People then have to clear up the damage!

      Lauren
