The modern buses in London are fitted with technology to reduce the particles and posionous gases in the exhuast so they are often cleaner than peoples private cars, unfortunately buses don’t go to all the places that people want to travel to but they can still work very well in large towns and cities.

Great question, and surprisingly not clear cut! If you advanced the buses by making them electric, then I am guessing yes. However, for ordinary diesel buses, the answer is most likely no. There is no direct comparison, though, so don’t take my word for it!

If the alternative to your question is that everyone who was on the bus would drive a car, on their own, and their car was either petrol or diesel, then yes, it would be much less polluting.
