I'm a Scientist

We don’t usually think of cities as healthy places. As they grow, so do rates of disease, drug resistance, pollution and waste. Not to mention their need for more and more energy and the potential for damaging the environment. But all this growth creates a huge opportunity: the chance to build healthier places for us to live in.

This zone features a scientist who measures pollution in the air that we breathe, a scientist looking at the unnatural nature of cities and one trying to stop climate change by designing streets that encourage people to walk and cycle. There is also a scientist who updates transport databases to keep us on the right track, another who cleans contaminated sites and gets them ready for development, and finally, a scientist looking at how the chemicals flushed down our toilets can come back to bite us.
