Nobody knows about what happens to you (as in your person). There are religious ideas behind this (such as a soul) and concepts of an afterlife… some religions speak about reincarnation! Other ideas are that we just decompose and that’s it. What we do know, however, is what comes before this. This is answered by science. As we start to die, our organs start to slow down. In the last few moments, the heart beat becomes rapid, as does the breathing. Then, eventually, the systems all stop. Brain activity stops, which is where brain death occurs. This is where the body starts to break down; the cells in our bodies release a chemical that causes the cells to start to break down. And then once we’re buried, the body decomposes inside the ground thanks to bacteria and insects. I know this all may sound scary, but it is the cycle of life!

Probably a funeral…hopefully, a few tears…and life goes on for everyone else.

You hope that everyone you know gets together to celebrate the amazing life that you have lived and remembers you for your kindness, all the funny things you said and the happiness that you gave others.
