Recently, I made a software which tests if a database that is given follows a set of rules set for it. Like for example, if the database contains dates in it, it checks if the dates are in the format of date (e.g. day/month/year). This type of testing is called profiling testing. I wrote a software that does this automatically for any provided database! It makes the client’s life easier, as they can eventually make better databases. Better databases means more correct information to make decisions!
It’s people who hold and create the databases, so that’s Highways England (check on a motorway next time, you’ll see their signs if you’ve not noticed them already!) and Network Rail/HS2.
