For me it’d be finding out that magnetism has a huge effect on how strong steel is in the presence of water! It causes things to break much, much quicker. It has huge implications in the real world, such as in designing buildings and nuclear reactors.
This is very difficult to answer as I discover lots of things, some good and some bad, but I don’t have a favourite discovery like an inventor might have. One of the more useful things that I have discovered is how much black carbon workers on construction sites are exposed to during their normal day and this sort of information helps people make better decisions about the machines that they use and how it affects their own health.
