• Question: If we left earth today, could we escape the eventual collision between the Milkyway and andromeda?

      We won’t need to – you and I will be loooong dead before that happens! But in theory, if we leave the milky way and not just earth, yes we could avoid the collision. But why would we – we’d need a place to go which would be able to sustain life! The chances of that are slim. Otherwise, we’d need a spacecraft with practically endless supplies of heat, water, food, etc. to allow life to survive.

      If we needed to leave today I’m not sure that we have any means to escaping… we have only just started to explore the nearest planets in our own galaxy and have not gone far yet.

      I’m sorry to say that if we left the earth today, like you say, we’d get nowhere close to escaping the Milkyway before we’d die in space. You’ll need to learn how to travel by warp or wormhole! Good luck! I think I’ll watch from the sidelines 🙂
