I work in an office now – but my work is far removed from the science I once studied! In my studies, I spent all of my time on a computer – in my bedroom at home! I found lots of unique things, straight from the work I did using computers. They are very powerful tools, these days. I hope this shows that you can make science happen from anywhere – not just in a lab!

I work for 5 (or sometimes 6) days a week… I don’t often work in a lab within the university but all my measurement stations are mobile laboratories for of different bits of analytical equipment and I visit these on most days at some point.

I spend most of my working day in my office. When I’m not in my office, I’m off having meetings on campus, or I’m out in the field. You’ll very rarely find me in the lab, I’m much more comfortable outside!

The ratio of lab:office has changed over time. When I was a young scientist I spent most of my time in the lab, but now most of my time is in the office.
