Fizzy drinks are ‘carbonated’, they have carbon dioxide dissolved in the liquid under pressure and are then sealed in a container. The liquid is at a higher pressure than the air outside and that’s why you get a ‘hiss’ when you open then

Good question! Fizzy drinks have a gas called carbon dioxide blown into them. Now a bit like when you blow into soap bubbles, the bubbles form inside the liquid – filled with the carbon dioxide gas that was blown into the liquid in the first place!
