Many scientists are beekeepers! My PhD student has just been trained as a beekeeper. My fellow scientists at the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology study the effects of pesticides on bees. They maintain bee hives at work and we have LOADS of honey! Sweet! 😉

I’m a scientist and a beekeeper! Honey bees are a really good indicator of what is happening in the environment, and are really interesting from a behaviour point of view (you should look up about their waggle dances!). The added bonus is the honey, which is really fun and messy to extract!
