There are a range of things that have been shown to be bad for cardiovascular disease and many thing that are good for the heart.

For example a diet high in saturated fat is linked to heart disease risk. Also, having high blood pressure, a bad blood lipid profile and a lifestyle low in physical activity. In addition, having type 1 or type 2 diabetes and smoking cigarettes can have a determental effect on heart disease risk. Some people may also have genetic variants and mutations that predispose them to an increased risk of heart diease / heart attacks. Scientists like myself are trying to find new ways to find those people most at risk of heart disease and to treat them accordingly to help prevent them from getting sick in the first place.

Hope this answers your question 🙂
