      Hi Steven,

      Fizzy drinks are fizzy because they contain carbonated ‘fizzy’ water– that’s water that has had Carbon Dioxide gas dissolved into it at high pressure. When you open the bottle of fizzy drink and it makes that hissing sound, that’s you releasing the pressure which causes the CO2 to convert back to a gas and escape as bubbles. When all the CO2 has escaped as a gas– your fizzy drink is no longer fizzy and instead has gone flat!
