When I was applying for university courses, I was stuck between choosing to work with people (nursing) or with animals. It’s fair to say the animals won!🐯 However, a few years on and I’m now working within health-care industry so have done a complete circle!
A big hobby of mine is re-selling vintage clothes. I use Depop (a re-selling app) to upload items to my shop and promote sustainable fashion. This means I spend most of my free time on the weekends popping in and out of different charity shops to see what bargains I can find!

My day to day job includes planning experiments, collecting data, writing up reports and sending these to clients. The company I work for focuses on creating creams and gels to treat skin conditions such as eczema (dry and itchy skin). We sometimes create these creams from scratch in the lab 🧪 or try to copy one which is already sold at pharmacy’s or shops like boots and Superdrug.
There is a lot which goes into creating these creams, think of it like making a cake- all the different ingredients get mixed together to get the end product!
I spend a lot of time in meetings, using Excel (computer software) and chatting to my team about data. I also am apart of the social team at work, where I help plan fun activities for everyone such as summer fun days, Christmas parties and bake sales!🍰

My Typical Day:
I wake up around 7:30am to get ready for work, eat my breakfast and have time to (quickly) play with my dog! Work starts about 8:30am where I log onto my computer to check my emails and reply to messages. I pop into the lab throughout the day to chat with my team and check in on the experiments. I always try to go on a walk at lunch time (unless its raining outside!). I will then have a few meetings with clients before I leave for the day at 4:30 pm.

I work a lot with numbers, checking, checking and more checking! Once the numbers are correct, I look for any trends and then make pretty graphs and tables in a report which I then send to clients. I have a really great team which I work with, where we all help each other to get the work done.
The coolest thing about my job is growing organisms in the lab and seeing all the different tissue types that we use (skin, nails) it just shows how different we all are! We also have some really funky machines too!
