Not really. There are always problems in a lab, things that break, stuff you order that does not arrive, things that don’t work as expected… you name it! But if you do your best you should not get in trouble. You just need to be honest about it, talk about it and your boss, or anyone more senior, should be able to help instead of getting mad.
No. That does not mean that I never made mistakes in my experiments. What is important is to realise what went wrong and to not repeat it. My supervisors knew that I’m trying my best, so they always supported me.
Not as such. I have made plenty of mistakes, some of them big ones, but so long as you take responsibility for it, don’t try and hide it or blame it on someone else people are normally understanding and will help you to figure it out rather than being angry.
