I was inspired by my biology teacher at school. He was amazing and now, 45 years later, we are still in touch.

It’s such an interesting and worthwhile career. While it’s often challenging, it’s always worthwhile. No two cases are the same and easy one has its own puzzles to solve.

There are two parts to this question – the “why did I choose to study science” and “why have I chosen a career in science”, and for me at least, they’re quite different answers!

I sort of stumbled across science whilst I was studying business at university; I chose a “wild” module in forensic science as it sounded interesting (it definitely was!) and loved it so much I switched programmes. So that was a bit of a serendipitous event!

However, the reason I chose to stick with forensics thereafter is because it fascinates me every day and makes me want to get out of bed in the morning and learn more. No other job I’ve had, made me feel this way.

Plus, I love the fact that it’s not only interesting but hugely rewarding as a career choice because it benefits society as a whole 😊
