• Question: What is particularly appealing about forensics as a career?

      I didn’t choose a forensics as a career – I chose anatomical depiction – the forensic work came as a result of this specialism. I guess its appealing because you are helping to identify someone and this can be really important for the family of the deceased or missing person.

    I think it is being able to see the real world application of science and how it impacts people. I like that research i conduct has real life use and that it can be used in laboratories quickly. I also like that everything changes, everything is constantly challenged and improvements are constantly trying to be made.

    It’s exciting to be able to carry out scientific work with real impact on individuals and society, helping to make the world a safer place. In forensic soil science we help investigators find people and objects using spatially derived data. We also present evidence in court hopefully allowing courts to get closer to the truth.
