My biology teacher was my inspiration. Dr Fraser was the most fantastic teacher who instilled energy and enthusiasm into everything he did. We are still in contact.
Since I was young, I have been interested in crime movies and curious about the scientific aspect of investigations. In addition, at school, scientific subjects have always been my favourites. All this inspired me to become a scientist.
I loved learning. When I was at school my favourite subjects were Biology and History. I enjoyed learning about how things worked and why they worked that way and also what happened in the past and how we can learn from it to improve in the future. Between the two, Biology was what won. Even now I still love to learn and make new discoveries.
I fell in love with the sciences as soon as I started studying them at secondary, but chemistry was always my favourite. I remember watching my chemistry teacher dropping little pieces of the alkali metals into a large bowl of water and staring in amazement as she progressed from lithium, through sodium, onto potassium! π₯Όπ₯½π
I’ve always enjoyed understanding how the world works. I also found how our minds work fascinating, and went on to study psychology and linguistics as an undergraduate degree, later doing a PhD and then working as a lecturer at university.
