      Yes, lots of times.
      There were times, especially when a fingerprint match would come up on the computer that only me and the criminal knew that they had committed it, which is quite exciting.

      I worked on the Major Crime Unit at Greater Manchester Police, so my fingerprint work was for crimes such as murder and organised crimes

    Yes, most of the work we do either supports or refutes hypotheses that a person or object had been in a particular location…..

    Yes, several times resulting in convictions; mostly murder but organised drug crime, too.

    This happens often. Usually, facial composites are used in serious criminal cases and modern software systems such as EvoFIT allow eyewitnesses to create a face that has a very good chance of being identified. If someone names a composite to the police, then an investigation can established whether or not this person is likely to have committed the offence in question.
