While working in the lab, I wear a standard lab coat (100% cotton). However, some procedures require replacing the lab coat with a full body suit. In these situations gloves, goggles, and a respirator have to be worn too.
Yes, when I’m working in the laboratory I do. This may be for teaching in a big laboratory where all the students where their lab coats too or in a smaller research lab where it is just me working there. Which lab coat I wear depends on which lab I am in. For example I have a simple teaching lab coat that I just wear in the big, general laboratories. If I am working in the entomology or microbiology lab then I need to wear a Howie lab coat like Lorna described. These will be lab coats that are always kept in those dedicated rooms and cannot be taken outside of the room. This is to prevent contamination of the rest of the workplace from insect dust or microbes that might be harmful to them.
Yes, but only when I’m working in the lab. When I’m sat in my office trying to work out what all my data means, then I don’t! We also have to wear goggles and occasionally gloves if it’s a particularly nasty chemical. When we’re dealing with fine powders we also have to wear masks.
