Good question. I have always been interested in the heart and blood vessels. We can’t live without them and they work 24 hours a day, 365 days a week for our whole entire lives usually in healthy people. When I was at medical school, I didn’t want to choose a career/interest without considering other areas of medicine and science so I told myself I have to study other areas and find out if I am interested in those. I took a year out of medical school to study another degree (a masters in research) in cardiovascular health (heart and blood vessels) and I enjoyed this so much that it became obvious to me that this was the area where I was supposed to be.
I believe that you always have the best chance in being successful if you do what you love doing. A career is usually what you will be doing for a big chunk of your life, if not all of it. So, you have to love doing it and it has to be one of the reasons you drag yourself out of bed in the morning. That is why I have worked so hard to be where I am today – because I love it with a passion.
