• Question: will this help creatures like turtles to stop choking on plastic bags

      Yes!

      My research is focusing on where plastic pollution is coming from, and what is happening when it is in the ocean.

      The results from my research will show the public (you and me!) how damaging plastic in the ocean is. This will mean more people will make more environmental decisions, such as saying NO to plastic carrier bags at the supermarket, and making the decision to recycle their plastic waste so it doesn’t make its way into the sea!

      I hope that my research will also influence new policies to be made. Policies are basically laws or rules that we follow. A great example is that in October this year, there will be a 5p charge for each carrier bag you use at the supermarket. This will mean more people will reuse their bags, or use canvas bags instead! This will mean less plastic bags will make their way into the ocean, saving more turtles!
