About the Erbium Zone

Erbium, pronounced [er-be-um], is a rare element, and the 68th element in the periodic table.

Holmium is a very silvery white solid metal with a variety of uses. Erbium oxide is pink and can be used to colour glass, which is often used in sunglasses and cheap jewelry.

This is a general science zone, where we will meet five researchers from completely different areas of science.

There is a scientist studying why people have smooth or rough skin, another one looking at ocean pollution, and one studying how children learn. There is also a scientist mimicking photosynthesis in a lab, and another looking for water in space rocks.
