Most of the waste comes from the public. This means you and me!
It is the disposable lifestyle we are in.
Think about plastic water bottles, carrier bags etc. Things that we only use once!
50 percent of the plastic we use, we use just once and throw away.
A large amount of this plastic waste then makes its way into the sea. This could be from blowing into a river by the wind, or people leaving their litter on the beach. There are so many ways!
It builds up over time because plastic can take over 500+ to break down!
However we can do something about it!
We can take part in beach cleans, and do the 3 Rs (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle)! It’s up to us to protect the sea!
Most of the waste is generated by us and the best way to stop it is to change our waste disposal habits really. But that’ll take a collective effort worldwide. People still damp a lot of waste in the sea which is a big body which keeps moving all over the place and takes the waste along with it
