People such as Bill Gates (inventor of microsoft) has put billions of pounds into science to cure diseases and help people. Which is great.
We get money from the government and companies to do our research (although we get less at the moment 🙁 ) but more funding is always good.
If I could set up a charity to support science I would. I would set it up for space and medicine research too. You may be surprised to find out that loads of things in our homes were invented by NASA as by-products of getting people to space. From memory foam mattresses to fire-resistant equipment and even artificial limbs and better water purification. That is the kind of things I would want to support. Research that will take us to space but also help solve some of the problems here on Earth.
Absolutely. I’d particularly focus mine on people in chemistry who are great at lab work but terrible at passing exams. I was really lucky to get taken on as a research assistant in a lab during my undergraduate by a Prof. who saw that I had potential when nobody else did. Because of what he did I got a PhD place.
Peesoanlly I wouldn’t want to because I believe in partnerships, support and collaborations. As there are quite a number out there already I’ll rather offer my services to them. I actually spent some time at sense about science which Tom mentioned and it was great experience.
