• Question: how does rubbish affect sea life?

      The main issue is that animals eat the rubbish!

      Think of a turtle for example. Turtles eat jellyfish.

      BUT! Plastic carrier bags in the ocean look like jellyfish so the turtles eat them.
      Imagine eating a plastic bag, it wouldn’t be very nice!! The plastic bag gets stuck in their stomach so the turtles feel ill, and don’t want to eat anymore. So they get very sick and can die!!

      Animals can also get tangled and stuck in marine litter!

      Rubbish in the sea can have so many bad consequences, so we need to work together to make the sea a safer, cleaner place!
