I work in a gigantic group! There are 20 people in my research group but then we also collaborate with three different universities and also other research groups inside my university so I think that overall there are probably 100 people working on the same big project that I am. Day to day though I probably interact with 10 people.
Actually, my research group is quite small – there are only four of us! Having said that, I also work alongside a lot of other people in my department who study slightly different things, so there are always lots of people to talk to.
That depends on what part of my work you are talking about. For my PhD project I am one of two people in the world that do what I do, but I have 5 supervisors who give me advice. I am part of a group at the university with similar research interests which is maybe 20 people, 5 or 6 of which I work with. But the lab is used by loads more people than that, people travel from around the world to use it but I don’t say I work with them.
I am also working on a project with people from NASA so I have maybe 6 people from NASA and then 10 people hear I work with on that stuff.
