Oh Yes! I’ve been stressed many times. Not everytime something goes wrong but some days are just urghhhh!!!! and especially when you’re trying to get something to work that’s not working no matter what you try. All you can do in those cases is just stop and find plan B (hopefully before you’ve pulled all your hair out).
Yes, sometimes it can be frustrating! In science, there are times when things don’t always go the way you planned, which can be a little bit stressful. My strategy is normally to take a step back and try to work out what went wrong. If that doesn’t work, I ask other people for help. And if that doesn’t work, I always have a supply of chocolate in my desk drawer for when I’m really stressed!
Usually if something goes wrong I go home early. One day, when a project went completely bad (the thing I’d spent ages making didn’t do what I wanted to) I just took a day off work the next day to chill and I just watched TV most of the day. Science has its really hard days, we’re doing things nobody has ever done before and so things are likely to go wrong. Normally though you get used to it and generally your colleagues will cheer you up and make you laugh about it!
haha yep! But everyone copes differently. If it is nothing huge I usually laugh it off and take more care. If it something a bit more problematic (luckily haven’t had this yet) then I can get quite stressed and end up spending all night at work.
