Pins and needles are basically the nerve endings in your skin telling your brain that something is a bit wrong.

Your nerves are there to help you survive: so they will hurt if you burn yourself, for example, to tell you to move away from whatever is burning you. In the case of pins and needles, your nerves are normally telling you that a bit of your body hasn’t got enough blood coming through: for me, it’s usually because I’ve fallen asleep on my own arm!

Its a signal from your body that there is a bit of you that has been starved of oxygen. Its basically your body warning you to do something about a possible danger
