      In the UK the most common type of cancer is breast cancer, and then lung cancer. Breast cancer has probably become more common as there are now screening programmes, where women are tested for this regularly. This means that more cases are being found that may not have been a few years ago. Lung cancer is quite common because of the increased risk caused by smoking.
