Well my specific job is called a post-doctoral fellowship, so in order to do my job you have to have a PhD (be a doctor of philosophy), but if you are interested in doing geology or working in geothermal power, you will just need to do an undergraduate degree – probably in geology (so that will be a BSc). In order to do that you will need some science A-Levels (Physics and Chemistry are best unless you want to specialise in palaeontology or fossils), and also Geography will help – especially if you get to do any fieldwork in your A-Level. In terms of the grades you will need that depends on which University you choose to go to. Plymouth asks for at least two A-Levels, at grade C or above, with at least one being a science or math subject. If you can do a geology A-Level that is especially great, but I know not many places offer it.
