I would want to go travelling around the world, especially somewhere like the Antarctic to see all the penguins!

In a way I don’t know if you would ever retire from being a scientist, as I often think of it as being a part of my personality – I’ll never stop asking questions!!! But if I ever couldn’t be a scientist (or work in a science-adjacent job like science communication or science policy) then I would like to work in a library or bookshop, I love reading so much and love to share books, so that would just be the best. If I could re-train I would like to work in special effects and costume make-up – but I think that a pretty hard industry to break into… might be worth a try one day though!

After retiring from being a scientist, I would love to travel around the world and teach Chemistry to students across all age groups.
