      Its part of being an amphibian its how they have always lived!

      Developing a body that can swim is easier than one that can move on land. So growing up in the water is probably a good way for tadpoles to spend less time in the egg.

      It is better for the tadpoles to be moving around rather than staying in the egg because they have a better chance to escape getting eaten if they can move.
