So you get evaporation of water for example from the sea or from a lake (any pit of water will do!) and this begins to rise into the atmosphere, as it rises the air cools and the water from the sea or lake also cools and it turns into tiny droplets of ice or water which form clouds, these clouds then begin to rain down when lots of little water droplets combine to make a big water droplet. When it rains different things can happen when the rain hits the ground, it can go into soil, it can runoff the ground or it can get absorbed by plants. All of this water then gets evaporated again and the cycle begins all over!
