• Question: How can you produce a low cost lab in a spare room?

      That depends what kind of lab you want it to be!

      Most laboratories are very specialised to the work that is being done. For example the lab that I work in has a lot power supplies and instruments for measuring electricity and motion. I’m sure the labs the others work in are VERY different.

      For some things the equipment can be quite simple and cheap, but often to get really accurate measurements it costs quite a lot of money.

      Obviously you need to be very careful about safety too. Your neighbours also probably won’t like loud bangs, funny smells or stuff setting on fire!

      Maybe if you tell us what you would like to investigate we can give you more ideas?

      Hi luckylaura!

      There are lots of chemistry and home-lab kits out there if you’re interested in mixing things or looking down a microscope. But try watching “Bang goes the theory” for ideas – you don’t need a lab, because the best experiments are done outside 🙂
