Philip Glasson answered on 28 Jun 2012:

I have to be really careful as there are things I am really not allowed to talk about.

Though our website does describe my organization as follows:

The Centre for Applied Science and Technology (CAST) is made up of scientists and engineers who develop technological solutions to fight crime.

We are a unique team of scientists and engineers at the heart of the Home office providing expert advice, innovation and front-line support.
We support ministers, policy formulation and frontline operations, and operate where others cannot for reasons of impartiality, national security or market failure.

Our scientists and engineers are experts in their field and at the heart of government so we are able to give impartial and accurate scientific and technical advice across a wide rang of issues. Our partners tell us this is one of our most valued roles.
