      Sorry, no luck!

When a lift falls, both you and the lift accelerate downwards at 9.8m/s/s due to gravity. While you are in free-fall down the lift shaft you will appear to be weightless, and you can push off from the bottom of the lift and ‘float’ in the air (although you are actually still hurtling down the lift shaft). When the lift hits the bottom, whether you are in the air or not, a huge force acts on the lift causing it to stop very quickly. Incredibly shortly afterwards the same force will act on your legs, making a mess of you.

Jumping (pushing off the floor of the lift), will make the lift accelerate down a little bit faster than you, but you will still be going pretty fast when you hit the bottom, probably fast enough to kill or seriously injure you – sorry!
