I first became fascinated in microbiology at college where I studied a module during my science HND. I was interested in microorganisms so small could not cause diseases but could also be used to help improve health such as good bacteria found in yoghurts. I am particularly interested in the disease causing bacteria and also the dangers and potential of using microorganisms as biological warfare

Microorganisms are involved in almost everything! I think that the fact that they are so flexible and can do/ live ANYWHERE is amazing. They can live in glaciers and volcanoes! They are why you get nutrients and why we have cheese and beer! They help to maintain healthy levels of nitrogen in the environment so we can live on this planet and (why I appreciate them the most) they can help cleanup the planet by removing dangerous metals from our water!
