If I could have lunch with one scientist it would be John Snow. In 1854 an area of London (Soho) had more than 600 deaths from a disease and people thought it was because of bad smelling air (people threw their sewage out the window at that time so it did smell!) People were actually dying from cholera, contaminated drinking water. John Snow removed the handle from a water pump in the area and the deadly cholera epidemic came to an end immediately. But people didn’t believe John Snow’s theory of germs spreading disease like this until the 1860s. I think he was really clever and brave. He did his best to stop people getting sick, even though they didn’t believe him. That’s why I would choose him.
