      Hi Fliss!

Oh wow, where do I start? I am a PhD student at the University, which means I am doing a big research project for the next three to four years. My project is looking at cars which will eventually run off water. At the moment I am looking at different materials to store hydrogen gas (which we can get from splitting water apart) that will be used in the car itself (hydrogen is currently used to power space shuttles!).

I also never stop learning; I have to do a few courses while I am researching and read lots and lots of scientific papers so I know exactly what is going on in my part of science. It’s not just about doing research though. A big part of what I do is events like this one, where I get to talk to both kids and adults about my research and science in general. I explain why these things are important, and also just to have fun with science!
