• Question: Do you think we will find another source of oil before the oil we already have runs out?

      Hi Jess!

      Yes, I am almost certain we will. When scientists make predictions about when we run out of something they are always made on the oil we can get to at the moment.

      We are always finding new pockets of oil and gas, technology to extract oil is also getting better and better all the time. If it really comes to it you can also make oil from coal but it’s a lot more expensive.

      So we’re not going to run out of oil anytime soon, but even so the more oil we burn the more carbon dioxide that gets released into the atmosphere.

      Carbon dioxide is important, we need some to keep the planet warm. Too much however and you warm the planet up too much. This leads to global warming and it means events like floods, droughts and extreme weather happen more and more frequently.
