• Question: why do I feel dizzy when I spin

      Dizziness is created by a disruption in the system that we usually use for balance- the vestibular system. When you spinning around, this system becomes accustomed to the spinning. After you stop, your vestibular system is still expecting to be spinning- and so it feels like you are spinning even though you aren’t. As the system readjusts, the spinning feeling goes away!

      Nancy is right. You can reduce how dizzy you feel by focussing your eyes on a single point. This is what figure skaters do when they spin on the ice because it tricks your brain into thinking you’re on the same spot. Try it and see if it works! 🙂
