I replicated a finding from one experiment in another experiment. It might sound boring, but it meant that my original results were right, and that a current idea that had been put forth by other scientists had to be wrong!

      Hey Heather!
For me I think it would have to be an experiment I did at uni which showed that a drug worked really well to reduce brain damage after stroke in normal rats but it didn’t work at all in rats who had high blood pressure. High blood pressure is a big risk factor for having a stroke and this experiment showed that it’s really important to test drugs in health and disease because it might not work! 🙂

Something great happened this week, I had a week at home and decided to tackle a mathematical problem that we have tried to ignore for years. I use a model of visual recovery that is composed of eight complicated and interrelated equations. In the past we have used high throughput computers and considered supercomputers to solve these equations, but this week I found a solution using analytical methods. In other words I found an solution to our problem that works just by putting numbers in an equation. Very exciting.
