• Question: i know that this isn't your field of work but why do people say that as you get older you shrink?

      Because you DO shrink! There are disks in our spine that are squishy so that our bones don’t rub directly on each other. Over time, gravity puts pressure on these disks and they get more compressed. After 50 or 60 years of this kind of pressure, someone might shrink an inch or two!

      Nancy is right! We start to become shorter from about age 40 onwards. People who do exercises like yoga from a young age tend to have better posture so they don’t look like they’ve shrunk so much! Getting plenty of calcium and Vitamin D can help too, so get out in the sunshine, do some yoga and drink plenty of milk! 🙂
