• Question: How long does it take to place the stem cells for the damaged vessels

      Hi George!
      I inject stem cells directly into the vitreous (the gel-like part of the eye) and we can see stem cells in the damaged blood vessels as early as the next day! These cells are very good at moving to places where they are needed and damaged tissues release signals which attract the cells to the site of damage. When we grow the stem cells in the lab, we label them with a fluorescent marker so that we can see exactly where they go. Hope this helps to answer your question. 🙂
