Hi there!
It’s really interesting to see all the differences and similarities between animal organs/tissues and humans! For example, the surface of the human brain is highly folded with lots of grooves and ridges (looks a bit like a cauliflower!!) and this gives it a huge surface area. Brains with lots of folds like this are called ‘gyrencephalic’, meaning ‘convoluted brain’. However, when we look at the brains of rats and mice they have a really smooth surface and aren’t as complex. Rodent brains are called ‘lissencephalic’ which basically means ‘smooth brain.’ Hope this helps to answer your question! 🙂

I liked doing dissections in my classes (but the way this question is worded suggests opening up my cat’s mouth and peering inside!). I don’t tink I would like to look inside an animal body that hadn’t been prepared by someone else…
